Exciting News for Film Short Competition at the SAICFF!
The San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival (SAICFF) is pleased to announce that the winner of the Best Dramatic Short Film Jubilee Award, bestowed during their annual Jubilee Awards Ceremony, will now receive an added benefit — the opportunity to contract with EchoLight Studios to produce a feature-length film with a budget up to $250,000. This opportunity is being made possible, thanks to EchoLight Studios’ decision to sponsor the SAICFF’s Short Film Award.
In light of this development, the SAICFF has officially extended the deadline for all film submissions
for the 2013 Film Festival to October 31 (the feature film deadline
remains November 15th). Next year’s festival will be held on February
7-9, 2013 at the Gonzalez Convention in San Antonio, Texas, culminating
with the Jubilee Awards Ceremony to be hosted the evening of February 9.
“We are thrilled by EchoLight Studios’ sponsorship of our Best
Short Film Award,” noted Doug Phillips, founder of the San Antonio
Independent Christian Film Festival.
“This sponsorship is not only a vote of confidence regarding the significance of our festival, but it’s also a boon of enablement for a Christian filmmaker who has demonstrated excellence through a dramatic short film to now be better poised to produce a full-length dramatic feature. This exciting development could well serve as the means to help a Christian filmmaker’s long-term dream come true. The message is this: Those who are faithful in the little things will be better equipped to pursue bigger projects.”
EchoLight Studios is a 21st century studio, producing and distributing family-friendly entertainment. EchoLight has a full film distribution platform servicing theatrical, home video, digital/VOD, and broadcast in both US domestic and international markets. EchoLight’s sponsorship of the Best Short Film Jubilee Award is a new step for their studio as well as for the SAICFF.

If we misunderstand what the Bible says about gender, then we will misunderstand issues like homosexual behavior, the roles of husbands and wives, and what it means to be male or female.
In Genesis 1:27 we read that God created man male and female—Adam and Eve—and He made males and females different physically and distinct in their roles. Genesis 2:18 makes Eve’s role clear: “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Eve was from the bone and flesh of Adam, meaning she is equal in her standing before God and yet distinct from man (Galatians 3:28). But God gave Adam the authority not only to name the animals but also to name his wife, indicating that she does not share equal authority with her husband. In the Bible’s wording, she is his helper.See why gender roles matter based on the clear teaching of Scripture.

"Christianity has caused more wars than anything else in history."
Some skeptics say Christianity has caused more wars than anything else in history. They paint a picture of Christians as the most murderous group of people, and somehow, this objection is supposed to discredit the claims of Christ and debunk the Bible in one single jab.
Now, I agree man has used "religion" for political gain. But then again, sinful man has used everything under the sun for political gain. Just because a politician or a military leader uses the name of God to further his agenda, that does not mean God approves.
In John 16, Jesus tells us that there will be some who will murder in the name of God. He says, "the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God." John 16 goes on to say, " they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me."
These are not true Christians. The Bible explains that hypocrites and deceivers will always be in and around the Christian church until God punishes them on the Day of Judgment. Jesus told His followers to love their enemies.
So, if a man puts a knife into someone's back in the name of Christianity, something obviously isn't right. Let's not forget the Bible tells us all murderers, including those who've had murderous thoughts in their heart will not make it to heaven.

Sardis or Sardes (Lydian: Sfard; Greek: Σάρδεις, Sardeis; Persian: سارد, Sārd) was an ancient city at the location of modern Sart (Sartmahmut before 19 October 2005) in Turkey's Manisa Province. Sardis was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Lydia,[1] one of the important cities of the Persian Empire, the seat of a proconsul under the Roman Empire, and the metropolis of the province Lydia in later Roman and Byzantine times. As one of the Seven churches of Asia, it was addressed by the author of the Book of Revelation in terms which seem to imply that its population was notoriously soft and fainthearted. Its importance was due, first to its military strength, secondly to its situation on an important highway leading from the interior to the Aegean coast, and thirdly to its commanding the wide and fertile plain of the Hermus...Since 1958, both Harvard and Cornell Universities have sponsored annual archeological expeditions to Sardis. Jesus says He has the Seven Spirits of God (or the Sevenfold Holy Spirit) and the seven stars. What He says about the Church of Sardis is very sad. He says that the Church of Sardis is dead and that they need to wake up. They need to repent and reinvigorate what is left of them. He says that He hasn't found any work they've done that meet God's requirement of them. So, Jesus urges them to recall and obey the lessons they've already received and heard, and to continually be mindful of them. He doesn't want them to be caught unaware when He comes. He mentions that there are a few people who have not 'soiled their clothes' and they shall walk with Him in white because they are worthy and deserving. It is so sad to think of soiling your clothes and not being able to walk in white with the Lord. He says that those who are victorious will be clad in white garments. He also, very importantly, says that those who are victorious will not have their name erased or blotted out of the Book of Life. Those who are victorious will be acknowledged as His and Jesus will confess their names to the Father and before His angels.
The Matthew Henry Commentary says this:

Remember that no matter what the nature of the problem is, the first point of call is to recognise and acknowledged that you have the problem in the first instance.
Identify what is causing the jealousy. If you are experiencing feelings of jealousy, take a minute to evaluate the situation and identify what it is that is making you jealous. Ask yourself why it is making you jealous. Knowing why you are jealous instead of just identifying what is making you jealous can help you to understand better, where those feelings come from and how to deal with them. Understanding is very important. When you understand it means you have an idea on what the root is and you are able to deal with the root and not the shoot.

Thyateira (also Thyatira) is the name of the modern Turkish city of Akhisar ("white castle"). The name comes from Koine Greek "Θυάτειρα" (Thuateira) [1]. The Turkish equivalent of Thyateira is Tepe Mezarligi. It lies in the far west of Turkey, south of Istanbul and almost due east of Athens. It is about 50 miles (80 km) from the Mediterranean.
The city was known as "Pelopia" (Greek language: Πελοπία), but it was named Thyateira (Θυάτειρα) by king Seleucus I Nicator in 290 BC. He was at war with Lysimachus when he learned that his wife had given birth to a daughter. According to Stephanus of Byzantium, he called this city "thuateira" from Greek "θυγατήρ", "θυγατέρα" (thugater, thugatera), meaning "daughter", although it is likely that it is an older, Lydian name.[2][3] In classical times, Thyatira stood on the border between Lydia and Mysia. It was famous for its dyeing and was a center of the indigo trade.[4] Among the ancient ruins of the city, inscriptions have been found relating to the guild of dyers in the city. Indeed, more guilds are known in Thyatira than any other contemporary city in the Roman province of Asia (inscriptions mention the following: wool-workers, linen-workers, makers of outer garments, dyers, leather-workers, tanners, potters, bakers, slave-dealers, and bronze-smiths).[5]
In early Christian times, Thyateira was home to a significant Christian church, mentioned as one of the seven Churches of the Book of Revelation in the Book of Revelation.[6] According to Revelation, a woman named Jezebel (who called herself a prophetess) taught and seduced the Christians of Thyateira to commit sexual immorality and to eat things sacrificed to idols.
The Apostle Paul and Silas might have visited Thyateira during Paul's second or third journey, although the evidence is entirely circumstantial. They visited several small unnamed towns in the general vicinity during the second journey. While in Philippi, Paul and Silas stayed with a woman named Lydia from Thyateira, who continued to help them even after they were jailed and released.
In 366, a battle fought near Thyateira saw the army of Roman emperor Valens defeat Roman usurper Procopius.
In 1922, the Patriarch of Constantinople appointed an Exarch for Western and Central Europe with the title Archbishop of Thyateira. The current Archbishop of Thyateira (since 1988) is Gregorios Theocharous.[7] The Archbishop of Thyateira resides in London and has pastoral responsibility for the Greek Orthodox Church in the United Kingdom.
Thyatira is also the name of a titular see in the Roman Catholic church.[8]

21 I gave her time to repent, but she has no desire to repent of her immorality [symbolic of idolatry] and refuses to do so.
22 Take note: I will throw her on a bed [[a]of anguish], and those who commit adultery with her [her paramours] I will bring down to [b]pressing distress and severe affliction, unless they turn away their minds from conduct [such as] hers and repent of [c]their doings.
23 And I will strike her children (her proper followers) dead [thoroughly exterminating them]. And all the assemblies (churches) shall recognize and understand that I am He Who searches minds (the thoughts, feelings, and purposes) and the [inmost] hearts, and I will give to each of you [the reward for what you have done] as your work deserves.(C)
24 But to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not explored and known the depths of Satan, as they say—I tell you that I do not lay upon you any other [fresh] burden:
25 Only hold fast to what you have until I come.
26 And he who overcomes (is victorious) and who obeys My commands to the [very] end [doing the works that please Me], I will give him authority and power over the nations;
27 And he shall rule them with a sceptre (rod) of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, and [his power over them shall be] like that which I Myself have received from My Father;(D)
28 And I will give him the Morning Star.
29 He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the [Holy] Spirit says to the assemblies (churches).

Then Jesus recognizes Thyatira's good works: love, faith, service, patient endurance, and their recent works being more numerous and greater than in the past. This is followed by Jesus telling Thyatira of their bad thing: They were tolerating the teachings and practices of jezebel which was leading astray some within the Church there. Jesus warns that those who follow and practice her teachings will receive anguish, pressing distress and severe affliction in return, even killing the hardcore followers, unless they repent. Jesus continues and says that He knows the inner thoughts, feelings and intentions of others and He will give each person the reward for what they deserve. Then, Jesus urges the Church to not follow those teachings and to 'hold fast' until He comes. Those who overcome and obey Him to the very end will be given power and authority over the nations, ruling them with a rod of iron with power over them the same as the Father gave to Jesus. He will also give the Morning Star to those who overcome.
The city was known as "Pelopia" (Greek language: Πελοπία), but it was named Thyateira (Θυάτειρα) by king Seleucus I Nicator in 290 BC. He was at war with Lysimachus when he learned that his wife had given birth to a daughter. According to Stephanus of Byzantium, he called this city "thuateira" from Greek "θυγατήρ", "θυγατέρα" (thugater, thugatera), meaning "daughter", although it is likely that it is an older, Lydian name.[2][3] In classical times, Thyatira stood on the border between Lydia and Mysia. It was famous for its dyeing and was a center of the indigo trade.[4] Among the ancient ruins of the city, inscriptions have been found relating to the guild of dyers in the city. Indeed, more guilds are known in Thyatira than any other contemporary city in the Roman province of Asia (inscriptions mention the following: wool-workers, linen-workers, makers of outer garments, dyers, leather-workers, tanners, potters, bakers, slave-dealers, and bronze-smiths).[5]
In early Christian times, Thyateira was home to a significant Christian church, mentioned as one of the seven Churches of the Book of Revelation in the Book of Revelation.[6] According to Revelation, a woman named Jezebel (who called herself a prophetess) taught and seduced the Christians of Thyateira to commit sexual immorality and to eat things sacrificed to idols.
The Apostle Paul and Silas might have visited Thyateira during Paul's second or third journey, although the evidence is entirely circumstantial. They visited several small unnamed towns in the general vicinity during the second journey. While in Philippi, Paul and Silas stayed with a woman named Lydia from Thyateira, who continued to help them even after they were jailed and released.
In 366, a battle fought near Thyateira saw the army of Roman emperor Valens defeat Roman usurper Procopius.
In 1922, the Patriarch of Constantinople appointed an Exarch for Western and Central Europe with the title Archbishop of Thyateira. The current Archbishop of Thyateira (since 1988) is Gregorios Theocharous.[7] The Archbishop of Thyateira resides in London and has pastoral responsibility for the Greek Orthodox Church in the United Kingdom.
Thyatira is also the name of a titular see in the Roman Catholic church.[8]

Jealousy is an emotion and typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, such as a relationship, friendship, or love. In Cain’s case, he felt he lost his position as the first since his offering was not accepted.
We are looking at the root causes of jealousy and last week we looked at Lack of self-confidence: The main cause behind feeling jealous is you doubting your abilities. Poor self-image: Having a poor self-image is another cause of jealousy. Today we will continue looking at another root cause of jealousy.
Fear (False Evidence Appearing Real): One of the root causes behind feeling jealous is being afraid; this fear can be a fear of ending up alone, a fear of being shamed or a fear of losing the love your partner is providing you. When man at that time faced some kind of danger, his body turns into a state called fight or flight response. Adrenaline is pumped into his blood in order to give him the ability either to start a fight or run away as fast as he can.

Poor self-image: Having a poor self-image is another cause of jealousy; if you think and if you believe you look bad or that you are not that handsome, then chances are you will be experiencing feeling of jealousy whenever you meet someone better looking than you look. Therefore, do you think that you are looking bad, that you are too ugly or not up to the standard? You may be amazed to know that in many cases you have a blurred mental image of yourself (inside your mind) that is much different from your reality.

3 Year Blog Anniversary

"Youth of Christ" is a film about an unmotivated youth group with a reputation for mediocrity as they struggle to plan and execute a youth revival at their church. The story begins when Casey, a 25 year old woman fresh out of seminary school travels to the First Baptist Church of South Florida to become the new leader of the young adult ministry. Known as a bunch of lazy teenagers, the ministry's activities are limited to watching movies and monthly game nights. Once Casey is hired, everything changes. The young adults begin to see their value as members of the body of Christ, and in turn become what Jesus intended them to be all along.
