Jealousy is an emotion and typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, such as a relationship, friendship, or love. In Cain’s case, he felt he lost his position as the first since his offering was not accepted.

We are looking at the root causes of jealousy and last week we looked at Lack of self-confidence: The main cause behind feeling jealous is you doubting your abilities. Today we will continue with other root causes of jealousy.

Poor self-image: Having a poor self-image is another cause of jealousy; if you think and if you believe you look bad or that you are not that handsome, then chances are you will be experiencing feeling of jealousy whenever you meet someone better looking than you look. Therefore, do you think that you are looking bad, that you are too ugly or not up to the standard? You may be amazed to know that in many cases you have a blurred mental image of yourself (inside your mind) that is much different from your reality.
