Documentary Film: Brother Born Again

An intimate documentary about Julia Pimsleur's attempt to reconnect with her only brother, Marc, a born again Christian who spent ten years living with his spiritual family on a remote island in Alaska. I just watched this documentary and I think that it's a really good display of what becoming born-again is like, and how it can affect relationships and families when the others are not believers. The film follows the sister of a man who became born-again and had decided to live in a sort of Christian commune separated from the rest of the world. They haven't had a close relationship during this time and the sister really wants to try and re-connect with her brother, and understand his beliefs and why he chose to live that particular lifestyle. It was touching to see them re-connect and start to have a closer relationship visiting each other and communicating with each other. I think this is a good documentary to watch for several reasons. But, primarily this is a good resource to really see what probably most people go through when someone they love suddenly becomes a born-again Christian and chooses to live a very different lifestyle than before. Although in this case it was more extreme than most because most born-again Christians don't completely separate themselves from society, but it was still a good display that I recommend viewing.
