Headlines on the web in the last 24 hours mention "The Growing Aversion to Abortion" (United States) and "Abortion Rate Falls by Half" (Korea).
Some U.S. states have also seen abortion rates fall by half or more. What connects all these stories is the phenomenon of young people turning sharply to the pro-life position. How that happened is no accident.
Young people today have been far more exposed to technologies that demonstrate the humanity of the unborn child: sonograms and even ultrasound images in 3-D. These images reinforce what they intuitively know: that an unborn baby is one of us.
But young people have also been far more exposed to pro-life education. It's on the web, it's in communities with active pro-life chapters, it's in their churches and schools. The Right to Life movement has worked hard over the years to make sure young people know the facts about unborn life, and that alternatives to abortion are readily available.
In addition to general pro-life education for young people, National Right to Life sponsors National Teens for Life, the National Right to Life Academy for college students, internship programs and national pro-life speech and essay contests for young people. We support pro-life education summits and youth camps. We're turning a generation of idealistic, energetic young people into pro-life activists!
